My days as undergrad will be over soon. But then, so much things to do and so little time i have in hand. Over the past couple weeks, Ive been busy doing hydrocarbon analysis. I guess, it worth the time and effort as I can see pretty much different between treated used motor oil with fungi as compared to the control. I must say, Im quite surprise with the result. I remember my supervisor telling me this particular species capable of turning dark and sticky used motor oil into some yellowish color fluid. At that time, Im not confident to get what he was expecting from my project. Perhaps, he also didnt expect much from me as well. In the end, Im satisfied with my work and all the efforts and time that Ive spend doing the bioremediation. Now, what left is just validating the data and start doing the discussion. Hope I can complete everything before next friday.
Robert Raymer may sound familiar to people who love to read. I dont really favor reading story books, but then I still manage to know this guy. How? He taught me English for Professional Purpose. My first class with him is the one that I cant forget. It took me quite a while to get used to his accent. We might enjoying all the english movies, but this is the real life where englishman speak really fast and expecting you understand all the words coming from his mouth. After some time, I manage to cope with his accent. There is about 18 person in the class, but the one who always responding to him is half of that number. I must say that he teaches us in different way as compared to our ordinary teacher from our primary till secondary school. He do not constraint to just academic, but more to teaching the academic based on the syllabus and relate it to how to tackle things in life. I learnt a lot from him. The one I will remember the most is the palm.
He showed us his palm and said "what do you see?". With all the confident, we answered the question by describing his palm, where the thumb pointing to, color of the palm. He replied "WRONG!". We response by asking why. Then he said, that is how life is. People always limit their vision on something by looking at only one point of view, which is from their point of view. What if we come out from our comfort zone, and look from other's point of view. We might be seeing something else. From that moment, I realized, I always wanted people to be agree with what I am saying although Im not sure what I want actually. I asked myself, what if I try this, maybe the outcome will be different and I might be getting something out of it. All I want to say, Thanks dude! You really open my eyes.
