KiDULTHOOD`

Yesterday I watched this movie called "KiDULTHOOD". Well, it is a British movie which the plot revolve around life of a group of trouble teenagers growing up in West London. Duration of the movie is about 1 hour 30 minutes. Personally, I think this movie is a good movie for all trouble teens out there. Life was not meant to end with death or regretting of what we have done in the past. Life is more than that and how we bounce back from where we fall is more important. Not to say that regretting of what we done is something bad, it is good but life must go on. We have to change and bounce back. That is how we get up from where we fall. This is what shown by Ami Ameen who play the character Trevor. Really one trouble kid, plus be friend with other trouble kids. Its like adding fuel to the fire. One thing I hate is that Im having difficulties to catch what they are saying cause of the British accent. Despite it is unique, but it is hard to catch. Trust me, I have talked to an old guy from Winchester I think, while we are both stranded in KK airport. I have to ask him to repeat everything that he said before I can reply him. Same thing goes when I was in Langkawi, this English guy and ask me some question. I took me a few seconds to digest and response him.

Mayang Tea Trip

Tuai[the lucky guy] in the middle of the tea plantation (credit to Herman for all the pics)

Nothing much I can say about the trip except that it is great. Despite I have to wake up early on thursday morning, it worth it. We depart from HEP at 9 although big boss said bus will leave at 830 and we have to gather there at 815, but never mind, he is the boss. Well, bus trip never felt so fun with awen inside it. Teasing everyone in the bus plus some safety briefing by him, it complete the trip I should say. We reach the processing chamber (i guess so) at Mayang Tea around 10 something. Following that is ome briefing done by Mr I-Dont-Know-His-Name, credit for him for all the detail explanation. Then the fun part begin where we start to explore Mayang Tea factory. I must the workers are not so "mesra alam", maybe because they are shocked by our numbers which is around 60 plus persons. After crashing the factory, we move on to the tea plantation with bus. Along the way, some city boys trying to impress each other by naming all the plants they see outside the bus, and I learn that coconut is apple (hahahaha). When we reach the plantation, it is midday. Well, under zinc roof, it is more like oven out there. Thanks to Tieng Tieng for some battery powered fan. After some photo sessions, we got the chance to tapau some ice lemon tea back at the factory. Then is it lunch at Serian before we are heading back to campus. I must say, it feels good to have a trip since our last trip was 2 years ago together.

Spectrophotometer 101

Today I learn how to operate Spectrophotometer. If you out there wondering how it looks like, here is the picture of it;

To start, you can switch it on by switching the switch on it back, and also make sure that you have sufficient power supply. After you turn it on, you will have to wait for few minutes (seriously) for the instruments to calibrate itself. At the same time, you can start loitering around the lab and disturbing others who are busy with their works. Once it is ready, you can choose specific wavelength you want by pressing the "lambda" button on the right bottom. Then, you enter the wavelength you want, well, I am using 420nm. Then you put blank cuvette inside the purple hood and press the button next to the "lambda" for it to calibrate to the specific wavelength. Once it is done, you can put your sample and take the reading on the reading screen. It is that simple. How much this instrument worth, well I say roughly around RM15K (doesnt look like 15K to me)

Japan Researchers Develop Anti Wi-Fi Paint

Are you currently stealing bandwidth from your neighbor's non-protected Wi-Fi connection? If you are, then pray that he or she doesn't read this then, because the researchers at University of Tokyo claimed that they have just created a paint solution that is able to block out wireless signals. Though there's nothing new about frequency absorbing paint, this particular batch is actually the first paint ever that is able to absorb frequencies as high as 100GHz. As a comparison, Wi-Fi signals run on the 2.4GHz spectrum, a pretty huge buffer there.

But stopping people from stealing your Wi-Fi signals is not the only problem that this new paint could solve. According to the leader of the team, Shin-ichi Ohkoshi, they already looking into many other usage for their paint such as protective clothing and jamming phone signal in cinemas. In fact, the team are currently developing another new paint that would be able to block frequencies up to 200GHz.

That's it leechers, your time is going to be outnumbered. Time to get your own Internet, you cheapskates! Theses Japanese are really high-tech!

obviously this is not the paint (hahahaha)

PMART

While I was having my lunch just now, I came across this article on Eastern Times.

New property portal to be launched today at 10am
KUCHING: A new property portal for Sarawak – http://www.pmart.com.my - is being launched today at 10am offering free listing for those selling their properties and free access for potential buyers.
In partnership with Eastern Times, Utusan Sarawak and supported by the Sarawak Housing and Estate Developers Association (SHEDA), it incorporates a new concept that offers a win-win situation for all. With the tagline “the ease in property buying,” the portal offers value-added services for individual property advertisers in Eastern Times and Utusan Sarawak as individual property advertisements in the two papers will also be available in the portal for free.
For property sellers, they can put up their properties for sale in the portal for Free. Just log-on to the site, register your own account and you can have unlimited postings for all the properties for sale. An auto tracking system will be able to give the data on the number of hits for the properties listed.
There is also a link up with the SHEDA website as a search engine is integrated into their website.
For property buyers, the portal offers ease and convenience as they can view the listed properties online complete with photos and a Google integrated map of the location of the listed properties. Visitors can also add as favourite any listed properties to make it easier for them to return later to re-view the listing. Alternatively, visitors can list out what they are looking for and an alert will be given should any listing meet their criteria that they have posted. Visitors to the portal are also encouraged to give their suggestions and feedbacks on the portal.
P Mart Dot Com Network is the host for the website and they do not do any property trading nor do they get any commissions for the sale of the properties traded via the portal. The main objective of the portal is to help enhance the growth of the properties industry and more enhanced features will be added in future. A rewards programme is being implemented for those who listed their properties and also for visitors to the portal.

PMR student tries to delay test by setting fire to school

By DESIREE TRESA GASPER

JOHOR BARU: The first day of PMR turned fiery for SMK Johor Jaya 2 here as one of the examination hall went up in smoke.

A student was believed to have torched the examination hall in a desperate attempt to delay the PMR.

This was the second time a fire happened in the school right before the PMR. The first incident happened two years ago.

The 6am fire yesterday completely destroyed a classroom which was converted into an examination hall and located on the ground floor of a three-storey building.

However, the PMR was not disrupted as the school’s administration relocated the affected 75 students to another classroom.

It is learnt that the school authorities lodged a police report alleging arson as a teacher was believed to have seen a person running away from the scene.

Johor Deputy Education Depart-ment director Markom Giran, who visited the scene, said a student was believed to be responsible for the fire.

“We think diesel was used to start the fire,” he said, adding that it extinguished at around 6.25am.

“Students taking the PMR were immediately relocated to another classroom initially prepared as an A(H1N1) quarantine area,” Markom said, adding that a total of 365 students are sitting for the PMR at the school.

He commended the school authorities for efficiently moving the students to another location without any disruption to the examination.

Markom added that a similar incident had occurred in the same school about two years ago during the PMR.

“Last time, a school workshop was torched. We believe this was the work of students who deliberately tried to stall the examination because they were not prepared,” he said.

Markom added that the culprit was never found in the previous arson incident.

He said about RM20,000 would be needed to repair and repaint the damaged areas.

This article is taken from http://thestar.com.my/news/story.asp?file=/2009/10/8/nation/4866469&sec=nation . Well, I think this student do not deserve to be in this school anymore. Maybe he or she should try for the enrollment of something like army cause this person is a daredevil.

Raining Seasons?

Starting from sunday untill today, it has been raining in the afternoon. I must say I am quite happy with the chilly environment in the night, make my sleep even better (hahaha). But it is a bit difficult to do some activities in the afternoon, dont you guys think so?Today, I went to catch some catfish with my friends for her experiment. Then I rushed to the laboratory to continue my bioremediation work. Sadly, I didnt manage to complete everything today as I stumble upon dead end in transferring my in-solid-state Bionecteria fungi into my oil-contaminated-sandy-soil. Hmmm, anyone can suggest me how to transfer 1%(volume/volume) of the fungi into my sandy soil?Theoretically, everything sounds easy to do, but when it come to conducting it, then so many problems will arise.

WD launch new My Book and My Passport devices

Launched earlier this week Western Digital’s latest versions of these portable hard drives not only come in whopping capacities (anywhere from 320GB to 2TB) and slick enclosures, but are also available in a variety of colors to suit your liking. Since security has also been a rather big issue of late, Western Digital have included their very own hardware-based encryption solution called WD SmartWare with every My Passport and My Book.

Price range for this item will be 320GB-RM319,500GB-RM419,640GB-RM499. I guess that is cheap enough. So for all the movie collectors and downloaders out there, this is your change to store and expand your collections. I think RM499 for 640GB is very reasonable. For more info, please visit the WD site.

Adidas Super Sala VIII

Yesterday I went for futsal game with my friends. Quite interesting as me and some of my friends have meet since before the Ramadhan (time puasa cuti, xda main futsal, beribadat la katakan). So then there is 13 of us, obviously it is hard to play with extra 3 person. In the end, we have to rotate to give chance for the other 3 person to play (ala-ala FIFA fair play pun rule). While playing, I use my brand new Super Sala VIII (not so super pun) which i bought before Ramadhan but didnt get the chance to play and try the shoe. At first it was great, I can get a few goals, but then when I run throughout the pitch, the cover inside which under the string it start to slip. Well, it is not torn, however it doesn't feel comfortable. I have to stop a few times to re-position it. But, I must say, it is a great shoe and it worth my money.

Under Attack by Heavy Machiney

I am sure that most of the students who live in Cempaka will start complaining about the noise made by the heavy machinery which busy working in the site behind Cempaka for new Faculty for the Medic. Can we the suffering student have some compensation?Today, I mean by now, they are doing some flattening the soil, and yet it is so noisy. I wonder who it will be when they start to piling.
